white bathrooms & an affordable luxury tub round up

The master bathroom in our new house leaves much to be desired, and while I was willing to wait a year to update it (given we have a lot of home expenses and project this year) my hubby really wants to gut it ASAP. When thinking about designing a bathroom and picking materials and fixtures, I have to go classic all the way – white, classic, luxury. While there are lots of great trends out there right now (and hot colors), I want this to be a bathroom that I will love forever. Here are some of my favorite inspirations:

If those pics leave you wanting more, check out my Bathrooms board on Pinterest!…Anyway, we’re going to go with white cabinetry (although the blue above does look really nice, hmm) with classic glass knobs. We’re thinking of going with carrera for the counter tops, floors and shower tile (choosing a different pattern & shape in the shower and on the floor). And if we can fit it in our snug little master, we are so going for an empire tub. To me, they scream “GET IN ME NOW & RELAX” which is exactly what I want from a tub.

Of course, I was immediately drawn to this uber pricey one from Waterworks which at $10,000 is absolutely not going to happen, so I went on a little hunt for alternatives, and came up with quite a few good options:

These tubs are all between $900 and $4200, which is still steep of course, but far better than the Waterworks tub and you still get a very high end look. As the focal point of the room, I think it’s worth making an investment in!

What do you think? What does the bathroom of your dreams look like?

P.S. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend and look forward to next week when I’ll be showing off Ollie’s room transformation!

so fresh and so clean clean

I am ALL for kids spaces – they are my favorite thing to design because you can really get creative – but sometimes (from what I see on Pinterest) kids rooms & playrooms are trying to be fun and childish and they end up just plain ugly. Ehh. Especially kids bathrooms. I’m here to set the record straight that you don’t have to sacrifice style to have a fun kid space!…OK, rant over, moving on…

So, when we make the big move down to Florida this summer, Oliver is going to have a bathroom attached to his room. It’s already got good basics – white wainscoting, walls, cabinets, and a nice white tub. But it is a kids bathroom so I do want it to bring in some fun colors and cute art. I’m thinking I’ll do a periwinkle blue on the walls (above the wainscoting) and then accents of navy & white, with lots of colorful accessories and art.

Here is what I’ve picked out so far:

Fresh & Clean Kids Bathroom

I love the Etsy art – it’s from a few different artists but it all has the same, simple & cool vibe. I think periwinkle, navy and white is such a “fresh & clean” color combo, and with some more pops of color (in towels, soap dishes, etc it will really be fun. What do you think? What else would you add to make this bathroom equally stylish & fun?

In truth, the bathroom design is really all for me because something tells me this little guy will be happy with anything…as long as there’s a bath tub!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend…xoxo
